About Me

Hi, my name is SrtBull, and I will teach you everything you need to know about hosting your own RUST server. I have created a lot of tutorial videos on YouTube. From hosting a RUST server on your computer to using a rented server. I also show you how to install and configure mods and best practices for administrating a RUST server.

I first started playing Rust in 2015 when my IRL buddies said I had to try it.  “What do you mean you wipe and start over at the beginning of every month?  That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard of.  Why would I buy a game where all of my progression is lost every month?”  Here I am at 2023, with over 12,000 hours logged on the game and still going strong.  Some of the changes, I’ve hated.  Most of the growth of the game over the years, I’ve loved though.  Just the fact that the developers are constantly updating and changing things, in general, for the best, is reason enough for me to continue teaching people how to fall in love with the game.

When I first learned how to run a server, I was probably a lot like you; I had no idea what I was doing and had to be taught everything.  I still remember my first big mistake.  I didn’t know that when you typed ‘restart’ in console, it doesn’t actually restart the server, it just shut it down (If there was no reboot loop built in).  So I ended up screwing my community over for a couple hours until the actual owner could reboot the server from the dedicated machine that I didn’t have full access to.

We all started at zero, so that okay if you don’t what you’re doing at all.  I’m here to help.  You can learn from my mistakes and hopefully I can show you how to make some mistakes of your own, and how to get out of them too.

Enjoy the community, ask questions, learn, grow

How to start your own server

We start from the beginning, setting up and hosting a RUST server by either using your home computer or buying a server from a game hosting company. We then move on to how you wipe your RUST server and install plugins via Oxide.

Adding Mods/Plugins To Your Server

How To Grow Your RUST Server Population

The $64,000 question! How to fill your server with players and grow your community? It’s one thing to set up the server, add mods and plugins and even learn how to manage and maintain one. But to fill it with players or even keep the players you already have happy. That’s a whole other ball game, and this video can help you with that.

How To Monetize Your Rust Server

One of the first things I get asked is how to monetize a server.  How to get it to start paying for itself because as well all know, hosts can be super expensive.  Using a plugin and website combination like Tebex will accomplish all of it for you.  Sell premium VIP kits, quality of life upgrades and much much more, watch this video to learn how.
